Problem

During a laboratory exercise, a student adjusts a simple pendulum until its time period is measured to be 1.50 s1.50\,\text{s} on Earth where g=9.8 m s−2g = 9.8\,\text{m s}^{-2}. (a) Calculate the length of the pendulum. (b) The same pendulum is taken to the Moon where g=1.63 m s−2g = 1.63\,\text{m s}^{-2}. Determine its new time period there. (c) Compute the ratio of the lunar time period to the terrestrial time period and comment on the result.
