Problem

In an arithmetic progression the pp-th term is qq and the qq-th term is pp, where pp and qq are distinct positive integers. (i) Show that the (p+q)(p + q)-th term of the progression is 00. (ii) Hence obtain expressions for the first term and the common difference in terms of pp and qq. (iii) Using the result of part (ii), determine the first term and the common difference when p=4p = 4 and q=7q = 7.
