Problem

A small metal block of mass 150 g slides without friction on a horizontal surface. At a certain instant its velocity is given by the vector (30 i+40 j)(30\,\mathbf{i}+40\,\mathbf{j}) cm/s, where i\mathbf{i} and j\mathbf{j} are unit vectors along the xx and yy axes respectively. Attempt the following: (i) Convert the given mass and velocity components into SI units. (ii) Determine the xx and yy components of the block’s linear momentum in SI units. (iii) Calculate the magnitude of the momentum and the angle it makes with the positive xx-axis.
