Problem

A car and a bicycle are travelling along the same straight road in the same direction. Use the data given below to answer the sub-parts. (a) Calculate the momentum of a car of mass 800 kg moving with a speed of 10 m/s. (b) Calculate the momentum of a bicycle (including rider) of mass 80 kg moving with a speed of 25 m/s. (c) Find the ratio of the momentum of the bicycle to that of the car and state which of the two has the larger momentum. (d) If the speed of the bicycle is doubled while its mass remains the same, determine its new momentum and compare it with the momentum of the car obtained in part (a).
