Problem

Connector pins are gold-plated to improve conductivity, but the coating must not exceed 2.00 µm to prevent mechanical failure. Each pin is a cylinder 1.50 cm long and 0.060 cm in diameter (ends masked). If plating is carried out at a current of 0.150 A per pin using Au+^{+} ions, determine the maximum time (in seconds) that the current can be applied before the thickness limit is reached. The density of gold is 19.3 g cm−3^{-3}.
