Problem

A laboratory spring–mass oscillator has a measured time period of 0.60 s0.60\,\text{s} when a 300 g300\,\text{g} mass is suspended from it. (i) Determine the force constant kk of the spring. (ii) The spring is now used horizontally on a friction-free air track with the same kk. What mass must be attached so that the time period becomes exactly 1.00 s1.00\,\text{s}?
