Problem
An aircraft is to fly with an airspeed of 250km h−1 due east. A wind of 60km h−1 is blowing at 30∘ north of east.
(i) Resolve the wind velocity into its rectangular components along the east (x) and north (y) directions.
(ii) Obtain the components of the aircraft’s ground velocity by combining its airspeed with the wind velocity.
(iii) Calculate the magnitude of the ground velocity.
(iv) Find the true bearing of the aircraft’s path measured clockwise from due north.
