Problem

A solution contains 1 mol of total amount of solute and solvent. The mole fraction of solute being X1X_1 and that of solvent being X2X_2 , prove : (a) X1=MM2ρ+M(M2−M1)X_1 = \frac{MM_2}{\rho + M(M_2 - M_1)} where M1M_1 and M2M_2 are molar masses of solute and solvent respectively and MM is molarity of solution; ρ\rho is density of solution in g/dm3\text{g/dm}^3 . (b) M=X1ρM2M = \frac{X_1 \rho}{M_2} for dilute solution; ρ\rho is density of solvent.
