Problem

For the real parameter kk, consider the inequality (k−1)(2x+3)>4x+3(k−1)(k-1)(2x+3) > 4x + 3(k-1). (i) Simplify the inequality for k≠3k \neq 3 and solve for xx in terms of kk. State the solution set in each case that arises from your simplification. (ii) Examine the case k=3k = 3 separately and determine whether the inequality has a solution. Give a clear justification. (iii) Using your result from part (i), write the explicit solution sets when (a) k=5k = 5 and (b) k=0k = 0.
