Problem

A particle of mass mm moves along the xx-axis under the action of a force F(x)=−ax2F(x)= -a x^{2}, where aa is a positive constant. (i) Show whether or not this force is conservative. (ii) Taking the potential energy to be zero at x=0x=0, obtain an expression for the potential energy U(x)U(x) for the particle. (iii) If the particle is released from rest at x=x0x=x_{0}, derive an expression for its speed vv when it reaches a general position xx (0<x<x0)(0 < x < x_{0}).
