Problem
A pendulum of length 2.00m swings with small amplitude. At its extreme left position the bob is 0.050m along the circular arc from the equilibrium point.
(a) Calculate the angular displacement (in radians) corresponding to this arc length.
(b) Determine the magnitude of the restoring tangential force acting on the bob at this extreme position.
(c) Compute the maximum speed the bob attains as it passes through the equilibrium position, assuming mechanical energy is conserved.
(d) Explain how your answers in parts (a)–(c) would change if the arc length at release were doubled, while all other parameters remained the same. Address each quantity separately with clear reasoning.
