Problem

A simple pendulum, initially at rest at its mean position, receives a small horizontal impulse that starts it oscillating. Half a period later, it receives another identical impulse in the same direction as the first. Explain qualitatively whether the final amplitude of oscillation is greater than, less than, or equal to the amplitude produced by a single impulse.
