Problem

The vertical displacement of a toy drone at time xx seconds is modelled by the quadratic equation 1.6x2−3.2x+1.28=01.6x^{2}-3.2x+1.28=0. (i) Determine the discriminant of the equation and comment on the nature of its roots. (ii) Find both roots correct to two decimal places. (iii) Assuming the drone returns to its starting height when the displacement is zero, state the time(s) (to two decimal places) at which this occurs, based on the roots you obtained.
