Problem

An electron enters a region where the magnetic field is B⃗=1.5×10−2 (4 i^+3 j^−k^) T\vec B=1.5\times10^{-2}\,(4\,\hat i+3\,\hat j-\hat k)\,\text{T} with velocity v⃗=6.0×106 (−i^+2 j^+2 k^) m s−1\vec v=6.0\times10^{6}\,(-\hat i+2\,\hat j+2\,\hat k)\,\text{m s}^{-1}. (i) Compute the magnetic force acting on the electron in unit–vector form. (ii) Express the force in magnitude–direction form, giving the direction cosines with respect to the coordinate axes. (iii) Comment on how the direction of this force would change if the particle carried positive charge of the same magnitude instead of being an electron.
