Problem

A horizontal spring of unknown stiffness is fixed at one end to a rigid wall. The other end is attached to a block that is free to slide on a frictionless table. When the block is pulled slightly and released, it completes 2020 oscillations in 25 s25\,\text{s}. (i) Determine the frequency and time period of the motion. (ii) If the spring constant is measured separately to be 180 N m−1180\,\text{N\,m}^{-1}, find the mass of the block. (iii) The amplitude of oscillation is 4.0 cm4.0\,\text{cm}. Calculate the maximum speed of the block during its motion.
