Consider the following four mathematical expressions:

MATHEMATICS · Multi-part · ISC · Mathematics · Algebra · Arithmetic progressions

Problem

Consider the following four mathematical expressions: (i) For each expression (a)–(d), state whether it represents a sequence or a series and whether it is finite or infinite. Give reasons in each case. (ii) For every expression that represents a sequence, determine whether it is an arithmetic progression. If it is an AP, find its common difference; if it is not, explain precisely why the condition for an AP fails.
