Problem

In a slinky spring lying straight on a table, a longitudinal wave is produced. At one instant, 5 successively spaced compressions occupy a total length of 1.5 m1.5\,\text{m}. Later, 40 compressions are counted to pass a fixed point in 8 s8\,\text{s}. (a) Calculate the wavelength of the wave. (b) Determine its frequency. (c) Hence find the speed of the wave.
