Problem

A simple pendulum of length 1.00 m1.00\,\text{m} is set into small oscillations. A student gives it identical pushes once every 2.00 s2.00\,\text{s}. Take g=9.8 m s−2g = 9.8\,\text{m s}^{-2}. (i) Will these pushes produce resonance? (ii) If not, determine the time interval between successive pushes that should be used to achieve resonance (answer correct to two decimal places).
