A ray of light travelling in air falls on a glass plate (refractive index 1.50) at an angle such that the reflected ray is completely plane-polarised.
(i) Calculate the angle of incidence.
(ii) Find the angle between the reflected and the refracted rays at this incidence.
(iii) When light of a different wavelength is used, the polarising angle is observed to be 55°. Determine the refractive index of glass for this wavelength and comment briefly on whether this colour corresponds to the red or the violet end of the visible spectrum.
