Problem
In a laboratory experiment a force of 0.40N is measured on a straight conductor 25 cm long that carries an unknown current while making an angle of 30∘ with a uniform magnetic field of 0.20T.
Answer the questions that follow.
(a) Determine the current in the conductor.
(b) Keeping the current found in part (a) unchanged, predict the force that would act on the same conductor if it were rotated so as to be perpendicular to the magnetic field.
(c) State how, if at all, the direction of the force would change if the current were reversed while the conductor remains perpendicular to the field.
