Problem

A ray originates in water (n=1.33)(n=1.33), strikes a plane glass slab (n=1.50)(n=1.50) of parallel faces and finally emerges into air (n=1.00)(n=1.00). If the emergent ray makes an angle of 40∘40^{\circ} with the normal in air, determine the angle of incidence of the ray in water.
