Problem

Answer the following questions with proper reasoning. (a) State the condition under which the average speed of a particle equals the magnitude of its average velocity over a given time interval. (b) A motorcyclist travels 12 km12\text{ km} along a straight road and then 5 km5\text{ km} back along the same road in the opposite direction. The entire motion takes 30 min30\text{ min}. Show that the average speed is greater than the magnitude of the average velocity. (c) Can the magnitude of average velocity ever exceed the average speed of a body? Give a reason for your answer.
