Problem

In an arithmetic progression, the sum of the first nn terms is one–sixth of the sum of the first 3n3n terms, where nn is a positive integer (n>1n > 1). (i) Establish an algebraic relation connecting nn, the first term aa, and the common difference dd that follows from the given condition. (ii) Show that the nthn^\text{th} term is the arithmetic mean of the first term and the 3nth3n^\text{th} term. (iii) If the common difference is 22 and n=6n = 6, find the first term and the 18th18^\text{th} term.
