Problem
A ray of light passes successively through three transparent media – air (A), glass (B) and an unknown liquid (C).
(i) State the formula for the relative refractive index of one medium with respect to another in terms of their speeds of light.
(ii) Prove that the product n12n21=1 for any two media 1 and 2.
(iii) Calculate the absolute refractive index of the liquid C.
(iv) Determine the speed of light in the liquid C, giving your answer in scientific notation.
