Problem

A light ray in air enters a glass slab of thickness 8.0 mm8.0\,\text{mm} at 40∘40^{\circ} to the normal. The slab has an index of refraction n=1.50n=1.50 and its two faces are parallel. After emerging back into air, the ray travels parallel to its original direction but is shifted sideways. Determine the lateral displacement between the incident and emergent rays. Express your answer in millimetres to two significant figures.
