Problem

In a calorimetry experiment, 46.0 kJ46.0\,\text{kJ} of heat is released when 0.250 mol0.250\,\text{mol} of the reaction H2(g)+I2(g)→2 HI(g)\text{H}_2(g)+\text{I}_2(g)\rightarrow 2\,\text{HI}(g) occurs. The average bond energies for H–H\text{H--H} and I–I\text{I--I} are 436 kJ mol−1436\,\text{kJ mol}^{-1} and 151 kJ mol−1151\,\text{kJ mol}^{-1}, respectively. Calculate the average bond energy of the H–I\text{H--I} bond, in kJ mol−1\text{kJ mol}^{-1}.
