Problem

A rectangular lawn inside a school campus measures 30 m in length and 20 m in breadth. A uniform concrete path of width xx metres is to be laid all around the outside of the lawn, so that the combined area of the lawn and the path becomes 936 m2^{2}. The path is to be paved at the rate of Rs 120 per square metre. (i) Form an equation in xx representing the given information. (ii) Solve the equation obtained in part (i) to find the possible values of xx. (iii) Determine the total cost of paving the path, taking only the value of xx that is appropriate in the context.
