Problem

A student is reviewing the concepts of momentum, force and the information that can be extracted from time graphs. (i) Define linear momentum and state its SI unit. (ii) The momentum–time graph of a body is a straight line through the origin with a constant positive slope. What does this tell you about the net force acting on the body? Explain briefly. (iii) A second body is acted upon by a constant force of 5 N5\,\text{N} that lasts for 3 s3\,\text{s}. Without performing any detailed calculation, state the magnitude of the change in momentum produced by this force and give the reason for your answer.
