Problem

A tuning fork of frequency 512 Hz is struck near a student holding a metre-long measuring tape in still air where the speed of sound is 340 m s⁻¹. (i) Calculate the wavelength of the sound in air. (ii) The frequency of the tuning fork is then increased by 50 % while the speed of sound in air remains the same. Determine the new wavelength produced. (iii) Find the percentage change in wavelength between the two cases.
