Problem

Two sound waves, P and Q, travel through the same layer of air at 20∘C20^{\circ}\text{C}. Answer the following questions about these waves. (i) Define (a) time period and (b) frequency of a sound wave. (ii) The time period of wave P is twice that of wave Q. Explain, without using any numerical calculation, how the frequency of P compares with that of Q. (iii) If both waves propagate with the same speed, explain qualitatively how the wavelength of P will compare with the wavelength of Q. State the reason for your answer.
