Problem

The threshold frequencies of three metals X, Y and Z are 4×1014 AHz4 \times 10^{14}\,\text{AHz}, 6×1014 AHz6 \times 10^{14}\,\text{AHz} and 7×1014 AHz7 \times 10^{14}\,\text{AHz} respectively. Two monochromatic radiations are available: P (5×1014 AHz5 \times 10^{14}\,\text{AHz}) and Q (8×1014 AHz8 \times 10^{14}\,\text{AHz}). (i) For each of the six possible metal–radiation pairs, state whether photoelectric emission occurs. (ii) Considering only the pairs that do emit, arrange them in decreasing order of stopping potential.
