Problem

A hyperbaric chamber is maintained at 1.5 atm absolute pressure. Inside the chamber a flexible sealed bubble shows a gauge pressure of −0.40 bar relative to the chamber atmosphere. (i) Determine the absolute pressure inside the bubble in kPa. (ii) If the chamber is slowly depressurised to normal sea-level atmospheric pressure (1 atm) while the bubble’s absolute pressure remains unchanged, what will be its new gauge pressure in kPa?
