Problem

A student jogs 2 km on the first day of training and increases the distance by 0.5 km on each successive day, so that the daily distances form an arithmetic progression. (i) Show whether the student can complete exactly 60 km in total after an integral number of days. Justify your answer. (ii) If completing exactly 60 km is not possible, find the minimum whole number of days required for the cumulative distance to reach at least 60 km.
