Problem

A light spring is suspended vertically. When a 200 g200\,\text{g} mass is attached, the time for 10 complete small-amplitude oscillations is 6.3 s6.3\,\text{s}. Replacing the mass with 300 g300\,\text{g} gives a time of 7.7 s7.7\,\text{s} for 10 oscillations. (i) Calculate the spring constant kk using the first set of observations. (ii) Repeat the calculation using the second set of observations. (iii) Compute the percentage difference between the two values of kk. Comment on whether the results are in acceptable agreement and suggest a possible reason for any discrepancy.
