Problem

A sample of bacteria triples every 4 hours. At noon, the population is estimated to be 1\,200. (i) Model the population PnP_n after nn periods of 4 hours by writing its general term in the form Pn=…P_n = \dots (ii) Calculate the population at 8\,p.m. on the same day. (iii) Find the smallest integer nn such that the population will exceed 1\,000\,000. Also state the corresponding wall-clock time and day if the observation continues without interruption.
