Problem

A negatively charged zinc plate is attached to a coulombmeter. The zinc plate is illuminated with light of wavelength 440 nm. The coulombmeter shows a decrease in the amount of charge on the zinc plate. (1) What would you expect the coulombmeter to show if the intensity of the illuminating light were increased? (2) Explain your answer to part a in terms of light as a stream of discrete particles of energy. (3) Explain what effect, if any, the increase in intensity of the illuminating light will have on the maximum amount of kinetic energy of the photoelectrons.
