Problem

A horizontal spring of constant 150 N m−1150\,\text{N}\,\text{m}^{-1} is fixed to a wall. A block is attached to its free end and, after being displaced slightly, the system is observed to execute 0.80 s\small 0.80\,\text{s} oscillations. (i) Find the mass of the block. (ii) The block is now replaced by another whose mass is 36%36\% less than the original one, while the spring remains the same. Calculate the new time period of oscillation. (iii) Determine the percentage change in frequency resulting from this replacement.
