Problem

For a GP with first term aa and common ratio r (≠1)r\,(\neq 1), let SnS_n denote the sum of its first nn terms. A new GP is obtained by multiplying every term by a positive constant 77. Let Sn′S_n' be the sum of the first nn terms of this new progression. (i) Show that Sn′−Sn=6SnS_n' - S_n = 6S_n for every positive integer nn. (ii) If a=4a = 4 and r=32r = \dfrac{3}{2}, determine the least positive integer nn for which Sn′−Sn>10000.S_n' - S_n > 10000.
