Problem

An oscillator executing simple harmonic motion has its displacement–time curve described as follows: • It attains a maximum positive displacement of +6 cm+6\,\text{cm} at t=0.15 st = 0.15\,\text{s}. • It crosses the equilibrium position again at t=0.30 st = 0.30\,\text{s}. • One complete oscillation is finished at t=0.60 st = 0.60\,\text{s}. If the mass of the oscillator is 0.50 kg0.50\,\text{kg}, answer the following. (i) Find the amplitude and the time period of the motion. (ii) Calculate the maximum speed and the maximum acceleration of the mass. (iii) Determine the total mechanical energy stored in the system.
