Problem
A long, straight vertical conductor carries a current of 15 A downward. A 0.10 m long horizontal wire carrying 5 A from west to east is placed 0.05 m due south of the vertical conductor and is parallel to the ground.
(i) Calculate the magnitude of the magnetic field at the position of the horizontal wire due to the vertical conductor.
(ii) Hence determine the magnitude and the direction of the force acting on the horizontal wire.
