Problem

A nucleus of 235U^{235}\mathrm{U} has a binding energy per nucleon of about 7.6 MeV. When it undergoes fission, it breaks into two identical fragments each of mass number 118 whose binding energy per nucleon is about 8.5 MeV (neutrons emitted have negligible total mass). Estimate the energy released in one such fission event.
