Problem

Two forces of magnitudes A=5 NA = 5\,\text{N} and B=8 NB = 8\,\text{N} act simultaneously on a particle with an angle of 60∘60^{\circ} between them. (i) Derive, by geometrical consideration, an expression for the magnitude RR of their resultant in terms of AA, BB and the included angle θ\theta. Clearly state any theorem used. (ii) Using your expression, calculate the magnitude of the resultant for the given numerical values. (iii) Determine the angle made by the resultant with the force AA. (Give the answer correct to the nearest degree.)
