Both coated sides are kept facing direct sunlight for several hours at noon and are then left exposed to the clear night sky after sunset. (i) Which coated sheet will reach a higher temperature during the daytime exposure? Explain your answer in terms of their absorptive powers. (ii) Which coated sheet will cool more rapidly during the night? Justify your answer on the basis of emission characteristics. (iii) Relate your explanations in (i) and (ii) to the colour and finish of the two coatings.
