Problem

In an arithmetic progression it is known that the pp-th term is qq and the qq-th term is pp, where p≠qp \neq q. (i) Using the information above, write two equations in the first term aa and common difference dd. (ii) Solve these equations to express aa and dd in terms of pp and qq. (iii) Hence or otherwise, prove that the (p+q)(p+q)-th term of the progression is zero.
