Problem

A puck on a smooth horizontal surface is pushed successively by four displacement vectors (all values in metres): P⃗=4 i^+3 j^\vec P = 4\,\hat i + 3\,\hat j, Q⃗=−6 i^+2 j^\vec Q = -6\,\hat i + 2\,\hat j, R⃗=1 i^−5 j^\vec R = 1\,\hat i -5\,\hat j and S⃗=−3 i^−4 j^\vec S = -3\,\hat i -4\,\hat j. (i) Determine the rectangular components RxR_x and RyR_y of the net displacement R⃗net=P⃗+Q⃗+R⃗+S⃗\vec R_{\text{net}} = \vec P + \vec Q + \vec R + \vec S. (ii) Calculate the magnitude of R⃗net\vec R_{\text{net}}. (iii) Find the angle that R⃗net\vec R_{\text{net}} makes with the positive xx–axis, giving the answer to the nearest degree.
