Problem

A 2 kg2\,\text{kg} stone is initially at ground level. (i) Find the gravitational potential energy it gains when lifted to the roof of a building 15 m15\,\text{m} high. Take g=10 m s−2g = 10\,\text{m s}^{-2}. (ii) The stone is then carried up an additional 5 m5\,\text{m} to a water tank. Calculate the extra gravitational potential energy gained in this step. (iii) What is the total gravitational potential energy of the stone with respect to ground level at the final position?
