Problem

A saturated aqueous solution of magnesium hydroxide, Mg(OH)₂, at 25 °C was analyzed and found to have a pH of 10.52. (a) Determine the hydroxide-ion concentration, [OH⁻], in the saturated solution. (b) From your result in part (a), calculate the molar solubility of Mg(OH)₂ at 25 °C. (c) Using the dissolution stoichiometry of Mg(OH)₂, compute the value of the solubility-product constant at 25 °C.
