Problem

For a GP with first term aa and common ratio r (r≠1)r\,(r\neq1), let SnS_{n} denote the sum of its first nn terms and Sn′S_{n}' denote the sum of the reciprocals of its first nn terms. (a) Derive an expression for SnS_{n} in terms of a, ra,\,r, and nn. (b) Obtain a simplified expression for Sn′S_{n}' in terms of a, ra,\,r, and nn. (c) Hence, show that the product Sn Sn′S_{n}\,S_{n}' is independent of the first term aa and simplify this product as much as possible.
