Problem

A sound source of frequency 1000 Hz1000\,\text{Hz} moves uniformly along a straight line with speed 0.80.8 times the speed of sound. An observer is at a perpendicular distance l=250 ml=250\,\text{m} from this line. Find: (a) The frequency of the sound at the instant when the source is closest to the observer. (b) The distance of the source from the observer when the observer detects no change in frequency.
