Problem

Consider reflection of light at a single plane mirror. (a) Derive an expression for the angle ϕ\phi between the incident and reflected rays in terms of the angle of incidence ii. (b) Using your result, calculate ϕ\phi when i=47∘i = 47^{\circ}. (c) If the incident ray is rotated through a small angle δ\delta while the mirror remains fixed, obtain an expression for the corresponding change in ϕ\phi. Hence find the change in ϕ\phi when δ=3∘\delta = 3^{\circ}.
